I have been writing all genres, but specifically poetry ever since I learned to read. My favorite poet growing up was Shel Silverstein. My mom purchased for me his titles "Where the Sidewalk Ends" and "A Light in the Attic".  I would read these books over and over. I even began to make up my own poems that had a similar humor as Shel's.

The inspiration for this book came from a less than humorous event- the crash of The Stock Market, the 2008 recession. I looked around and noticed that we as a people were more concerned with 'getting' and less concerned with the idea of 'giving'. We had gotten so consumed with the idea of ‘more, more, more’, that we forgot about the principle of helping one another. I figured if we taught our children, the future generation, that it is truly better to give, then maybe another crisis like the 2008 recession can be prevented- thus the concept of “Jimmy Collar and His One and Only Dollar” was born.

I began to imagine each of the characters in my mind and how I wanted them to look. I wanted the book to depict children of all ethnicities, how our world truly looks, and when children read the book they would see themselves in the book and identify with the characters. I shared my vision with Bro. Boze and he literally made each and every character come to life.  I hope you and your children enjoy the character's journey.
